Scottish Friendly launches ‘Junior ISA Reform Hub’ to champion financial futures for young people across the UK
Scottish Friendly’s new Junior ISA Reform Hub brings together research, insights and campaign activity aimed at reforming Junior Individual Savings Accounts (JISAs) and helping to improve financial inclusion for children and young people in the UK.
The financial mutual has today launched a JISA Reform Hub, a dedicated online platform designed specifically to bring together the latest research, policy recommendations and campaign developments supporting reform of the current JISA framework.
As it currently stands, only parents or legal guardians are allowed to open a Junior ISA on behalf of a child. Scottish Friendly is calling for a small, practical relaxation of the rules to allow grandparents to open a Junior ISA, with parental consent.
The new hub will serve as a central destination for policymakers, journalists, stakeholders and consumers interested in understanding how changes to the current JISA system could help deliver better long-term financial outcomes for children and young people across the UK.
The launch marks a significant milestone in Scottish Friendly's ongoing campaign to raise awareness of the barriers that prevent many families from building meaningful savings for future generations and to explore how policy reform could help make tax-efficient saving more accessible and effective.
