Apprenticeship programme at Scottish Friendly
At Scottish Friendly, we've all kinds of colleagues doing all kinds of jobs. We're committed to supporting young people in our community with training, skills development and job opportunities.
All our apprenticeships are aligned to specific needs within the financial services industry. We recognise the importance of combining learning with on-the-job training.
We work with training providers who are the best in their sector. And you’ll be supported every step of the way by colleagues who are experts in their field. Find out more about life as an apprentice at Scottish Friendly below, from two of our colleagues - Dylan and Charlie - currently working their way through our apprenticeship programme.
Dylan Sandhu - IT Apprentice
I started at Scottish Friendly as an IT Apprentice a year ago and I'm currently completing my SVQ. The apprenticeship allows me to venture into the life of working in an office and gets me used to it at a younger age rather than later on in life.
This apprenticeship will help me understand how an Infrastructure department works in a business as my ambition is to progress within IT.
At Scottish Friendly, stepping out of my comfort zone is something I have often been encouraged to do – from working on a broad range of matters with senior colleagues to supporting multiple departments.
Charlie Hogan - Marketing Apprentice
As a younger person, working in the finance industry was something I'd never thought of until I applied. I liked that Scottish Friendly were very supportive and helpful towards getting younger people introduced to financial services whilst making sure they get all the support they need.
Scottish Friendly has given me skills I didn’t expect to learn when I started as a Marketing Apprentice one year ago. My apprenticeship allows me to be part of a busy, fast-paced department and support the digital and PR teams whilst completing my SVQ.
During my apprenticeship I've had the opportunity to develop my digital marketing skills, write and upload blog content and learn how to use different tools such as Google Analytics. In the future I want to continue within the marketing department taking on new opportunities working with all the colleagues that have helped me so far.
